Huawei is investing £1.3 billion in the UK in an attempt to grab a larger share of the mobile phone market.
In talks with prime minister David Cameron, the founder of the Chinese firm, Ren Zhengfei, confirmed the huge investment which should also create 700 jobs.
The company hopes to broaden UK business by spending £650 million on a new research and development centre in Ipswich.
Huawei already provides telecommunications equipment to British companies BT and Everything Everywhere.
The mobile phone manufacturer recently announced three new smartphones, the Ascend G600, Ascend G330 and the Ascend Y201 Pro but the brand is not one of the most popular or well-known in Britain. It is currently outshone by Western market leaders Samsung and Apple.
Perhaps news that the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE handset will be one of only five involved in EE's (Everything Everywhere) 4G network launch will help the company to gain exposure and improve its status in the UK.
Huawei is apparently planning to be one of the top three mobile phone manufacturers in the world by 2015.
